environmental refugees

I agree to help environmental refugees such as vincente with national taxes. First, the cause of environmental problems such as global warming is not the refugees but the ordinary people. Handwerk(2004) states that “Human activities, burning fossil fuels and clearning forests, have greatly increased concentrations by producing these gases fster than plants and oceans can soak them up”. This demonstrates that people who want to get benefit from damaging the environment is the main cause of sea level rise and environmental refugee problems. Second, if the country provides basic support for refugees to settle, they will seek jobs in that country and can generate new taxes. Third, in the case of South Korea, many North Korean defectors are accommodated. South Korea supports the settlement of defectors on a humanitarian level. The North Korean defectors provide detailed information about the North Korean society, and South Korea can review the ways to narrow the gap between the North and South ideals so that they can prepare for unification more easily. The world should place more emphasis on human rights. Everyone should be given a fair opportunity and can choose where they live. That is why I think environmental refugees should be accepted and supported by nation.

Synthesis

Climate change causes serious problems. First, Sea level is increasing because of global warming. For example, Handwerk(2004) states that “the average global sea level has risen by 4 to 8 inches over the past century”. This demonstrates that global warming geographically influences on planet. Second, variety of animals or plants species is decreasing. Most famous example is polar bears that lose their living habitat due to melting ice. Third, global warming makes millions of environmental refugees. For example, Kakissis(2010) says that Bangladeshi have moved their villages because of river erosion. This demonstrates that climate change affects human life. Global warming makes a variety of serious problems; therefore, we have to find ways to prevent these problems and to stop climate change.

Response

One point the author mentions is that innovation for developing countries that increase quality of life. This is significant because it is involved with productivity and consumption activities. First, most Bangladeshan people spend night time withough light;however, if people carefully use electricity from Kamen's power generator, they can spend night time not to sleep but to do valuable activities(Shonfeld). Next, many poor countries suffer from disease because of lack of clean water;however, Kamen's water cleaning machine can solve this problem. Clean wateer is related to health and population;consequently, labor can be increased. By using these machines, agriculture can grow. It means they can escape from poverty because surplus produce help to stimulate the economy. In conclusion, electiricity and clean water is mandatory for developing countries to be developed countries.
